Walk to Run : Beginner (Week 1)

2007-01-31 Nike Running Training Schedule

Week 1 of my getting fit program begins! Actually I started one day late because of my work schedule and had to start on 30/01. It was pretty easy, just a 15 min walk following by another session of (Walk 5 min, Run 1 min) x 2. Walk 5 min. Didn’t manage to find the Nike+Ipod system (so no distance clocked) but think I’ve got to at least get new shoes, my trusty SAF shoes gave way pretty much after one round
Felt pretty good doing this at the park opposite our house so shall aim to continue the rest of the schedule this week.
Home made mugs
Made a mug (mine on the left, the one on right is done by my sister) using the coiling technique during the 4th pottery lesson.
We have progressed onto using the handwheel. It was so much fun! It was very satisfactory to create something out of a lump of clay. Looking forward to painting and glazing my works! I sure hope they don’t crack under fire!
Mic is pretty excited about my creations as well, especially since they are not fired yet and not ready for me to take home. Pity he didn’t join me though, but he was sweet to partly sponsor me for the expensive hobby. Thanks, Hubby!
My pottery work!

Been taking pottery lessons with my sis at Brompton Road since the beginning of this year.
Pottery is something that i have been meaning to take up for some time, finally decided to try my hand at it when my sis took the trouble to do the research and since i have company in my sis.
In the picture are the dishes i made during the 3rd pottery lesson through the technique of slapping. First lesson was on pinching (the most difficult technique in my opinion) and I produced a bowl and a die. The second lesson was on hollowing and I made a box.
Walk to Run : Beginner
Just read about the Nike+ running program at Nike Running Europe after doing some light reading at BinaryBonsai and decided I should really get started on my “Getting Fit” plan for 2007. Used to run a lot back in NTU days but have since hung up the running shoes so thought I would try a less ambitions schedule instead of the 5k plan.
Goal : To get fit in 12 weeks
The View from Taiwan: New Blogs on the roll
Thanks to Michael Turton from “The View from Taiwan” for putting us on his blogroll
Definitely enjoy reading his commentary on Taiwan.
New Blogs on the roll
Saying no to Credit (Cards)?
Its probably with age that I’m starting to think more about financial security and family planning. Have recently added a few more finance blogs (tiny % compared to the tech articles I read ;)) and came across an article on using cash or debit cards instead of credit cards.
I actually tried this a couple of years back and can say it was actually quite a relief not having a constant bill to pay every month. Think its a good reminder to myself to spend on only what’s necessary and when I can afford it (credit feels good but hurts bad when you gotta pay the bill)
I really, really enjoy the freedom of not having to use a credit card. I like having and using actual money. Truth be told, I enjoy being a bit of an “oddballâ€. Cash rules!
Meeting Tips - Remembering who’s who
I find myself attending quite a bit more meetings these days and sometimes we don’t always exchange business cards since some meetings can be quite informal. Found this great tip to help remember the people who were there. Gonna try it out next week :)
Remember names by drawing a map

Avoid the dreaded “what was your name again?” scenario the next time you’re in a meeting by drawing a map.
Must write more!
15 Jan 2007Â
Mic was ‘nagging’ abt my inactive participation for the blog. Hee hee. Always tell him I don’t have time.
Very bad excuse. Conscience was poking at me today so came in to blog abt our 28th Monthsary!
Wow, in the X months since Mic started blogging (abt 2 years), I have only contributed 5 entries (excluding comments) *guilty guilty*. Also, i better make my presence felt before he turned it into his personal blog, talking abt IT terms or films that he had watched of which I had no idea what he was talking about. Hee hee
Anyway, the 15th of every month is the monthsary of Mic and I. We promised to spend this day (or rather, evening) with each other. As of today 15 Jan 2007, we have been a couple for 28 months and married for 16 months! Woolala!
Happy 28th Monthsary, darling. Muah!
PS: I will try to blog more.Â
Monthsary: a new word that I picked up the other day at a cardshop. Apparantly dunno who coined the word up, guess it meant monthly anniversary. I checked the dictiionary, guess no such new word, but never mind. Shall use it as it suits my purpose.

Marie Antoinette - a new movie with Kirsten Dunst. I saw some of the behind the scenes shots and found it quite interesting. Also chanced upon a video of a Vogue shoot - nice shots and music!
