Top Gear

Just got acquainted with this seriously funny motoring show on BBC. Its called “Top Gear” and now into its 9th season.  Featuring the antics of 3 guys and some serious hardware, it features top racing cars and “experiments” with cars.

Hyundai Restless and the wayward wind

Just caught sight of a very cool car vid at Duncan’s TV Ad Land.
Apparently, its been banned in Australia for depicting illegal activity (i.e. baby driving a car)!

New Year Lunch, Ben & Jerries, Protege and Pizza!

This year’s usual gathering of my secondary friends was slightly different in that it was super rushed :) We first had a nice 6 course set lunch at Gim Tim restaurant. Zh and Jo had earlier dropped off a monster tub (@$88) of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and we had that for dessert .. 2 scoops each for 10 of us… That’s one huge tub pictured below!

Our next stop was to watch the Andy Lau movie “Protege” which is about the heroin business and a “behind the scenes” look at how this trade comes about. I would probably rate this a 3 out of 5 since there isn’t any real suspense to the movie.

After the movie, we moved on to Ig’s n Yy’s place for dinner (pizza) and afterwards enjoyed a taste of 3 different types of Inniskillin Ice Wine. *grin* the night ended with a rather empty wallet but hey, its a once a year occurence so shall just enjoy the spirit of another lunar year :)

Chinese New Year 2007 is Year of Pig or DingHai

Happy Piggy Year to everyone! We had two dinners this year (yah now we gotta eat more every new year!). We had a nice steamboat/hotpan dinner at Yh’s home on Friday (new year’s eve’s eve). I think this is the first time (as far as i remember) we all crowded round the table and had dinner together so it was very nice :)

New year’s eve traditional reunion dinner was held at my parent’s home. We had steamboat and lots of veggie to accompany the food. Also open a nice bottle of Pinncale 2003 Ice Apple Wine after dinner.

On both occassions, we kinda forgot to take photos so kinda regretting not have a snap to remember our first reunion dinners together. Anyhow, wish everyone good health and prosperity in the coming piggy year.

2007 is the Year of the Pig (boar)

It is also known by its former name of Ding Hai.

2 years…

Seems like just awhile back that I was nervously planning on how to propose to Yh. We went back to the place where it all started 2 years ago at the Esplanade and had a nice dinner at Ichiban Boshi :)

For the curious, here are some dates

Couple Pillow Cases

Went shopping and bought this cute pair of couple pillow cases of a boy flying paper aeroplane love letters to a girl.

I wrapped the pillow case of the boy and left it in the letter box for Mic as a surprise gift (besides the present of G2000 clothes which i had bought for him earlier) since he so loves to open letter box. ;) haha. Could not wait to see the smile on his face when he sees it. Luckily everything went as planned and he only opened the letter box after we returned from dinner at my mother-in-law’s.

I had already hidden the pillow case of the girl the night before and got him to search for it, with just the clue of “It is being camouflaged by something that we always see but never use”.

Mic had some problem uncovering the place, much to my delight. Then i gave him the clue (that it is in his study) that led him to find it hidden behind the gift of Chinese painting that we don’t know what to do with.

Flowers from Mic

For Valentine’s Day 2006, Mic brought a dozen pink roses and forget-me-nots in a heart shaped ceramic box to office for me. It was really a huge surprise as he just stepped out of my office’s conference room! so happened that he came in when i was out on lunch break and my colleague sent him hiding in the conference room.

The lovely bunch of bright red roses were from Mic to commemorate our 99 days together. He dropped by to deliver them to me in office and also gave me my X’mas present from him (a lavender / grey shawl). Our 99 days together happens to be on 23 Dec 2004.

I was undecided about accepting Mic. On 15 Sep 2004, he sent this lovely vase of purple tulips to my office which goes to win him brownie points and my heart.

This bouquet below was the very first bouquet of flowers sent by Mic. He was away in Palau Aur then. He knew i like tulips and sent this to my house. It was only then that i know his feelings towards me.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Had a very nice surprise today. Mic had sent a Valentine’s Day parcel of a lovely bouquet of white and violet tulips and a plush puppy in a pretty box to my office. Was not really expecting anything from him after his laptop gift (suspect is more of a gift to himself as he uses it more often than me) to me earlier in the month, so is very very happy with the surprise. Thanks, Hubby.

Growing in vs. growing out - Signal vs. Noise (by 37signals)

Doing some reading on business / finance etc.. and came across an article by 37signals. Since I’m also in the software building business, was definitely hooked by their philosophy below.

We’d rather our customers grow out of our products eventually than never be able to grow into them in the first place.
