Diving again! Hope I can try out some underwater photography

It’s been quite some time since my last dive in Pulau Tioman so can imagine how excited I am that will get a chance to do a short dive trip while holidaying at Bali next week. Went scouting around for some information about underwater housing for my Canon S3 IS but apparently there is only something from Ikellite that is (amazingly) more expensive than the camera itself! Don’t think I can bear to part with such a huge amount of money of my first attempt at underwater photography so shall look at getting a housing for our trusty old Canon A80 instead. Not sure if I should also invest in a strobe so am reading up the exploits from ClubSnap’s Underwater Photography section.

What’s your experience in terms of no. of dives dude?

If you comfortable with VERY strong currents, the very best of Bali diving is at the sister island of Nusa Penida to the south, where you can see the beautiful Mola-Mola (Ocean Sunfish). Manta Point (with many mantas, obviously) is here too. However you’re just a little too early in the season for all these – July to October would be ideal for Bali.

If you’re interested in taking nice macro shots you can try Seraya about 15mins drive south of the famous Tulamben wreck.

Bali is very easy to DIY the whole trip. You can email me if you would like more info :)

As my wife doesn’t dive, I’ll prob only do a single day while I’m in Bali so really got to make good use and go a nice spot. My last dive was some time ago so really still very new to diving!

[...] some great advice from Seraphim after my last post, I’ve decided to head to Tulamben for a day’s dive (yah, short but at least I get to [...]
