No MSN!

I have been using instant messenging since my first job, in 2000. Then it was icq, then I progressed to msn. For 7 years, I am connected online to friends, some of whom I seldom meet up due to various reasons, every weekday (seldom use computers or log on during weekends).

My new company is more stringent on web use, so we are banned from downloading msn. Therefore I have been using web version of msn. Recently the company banned all access to sites which are associated with ‘instant messenging’, and even ‘entertainment’. Now I cannot msn, and I can’t even access to the movie sites to book tickets etc.

It has been a few weeks without msn. I have Skype but is just not the same, as less people I know are on Skype. No doubt it helps concentration but I feel so disconnected. But anyway, think work will get increasingly busy so also no time to chat, but having the option to would be nice.

I would leave the company. This is a corporate form of censorship. It represents a gross mis-trust of their employees.
